SUPER COBRA JET JET FUNNY CAR

OWNERS: Gary & Harriet Fore

DRIVER: Gary Fore Gary was born in Pasadena, California on March 23, 1946. He and his wife Harriet were high school sweethearts who married in 1965. Shortly after they were married, Gary did two tours of duty in Viet Nam aboard the carrier, the U.S.S. Constellation where he worked on the flight deck and was a flying plane captain for the largest carrier based aircraft in the world, the A-3B Skywarrior.

When Gary left the service he went to work for McDonald -Douglas. He worked there several years and then went to work for Ford, first as a mechanic, then as a service advisor and then for 20 years a service manager. Gary and Harriet have one daughter, Brandi and two grandchildren, Tracey 9 and Ryan 6.

Gary has been racing cars since high school. It has always been his favorite thing to do. In 1987 he decided to build a 1941 Willys A Gas Supercharged car. His mentor was the A Gas Supercharged super star K.S. Pittman. He is the man who helped and mentored Gary throughout the years. Gary raced the black 1941 Willys until 1994 when he decided to build a state of the art Willys. It was a true race car whereas the black one had been a Willys which he made into a race car. He successfully raced the blue Willys until 2003 when he sold the car to his crew chief and decided to change his vocation from being a Ford Service Manager and started building the jet funny car. The jet funny car seemed to be the perfect fit for Gary. He had worked on jet engines in the service and, with a Mustang body, well – it couldn’t get any better for him.

The car is equipped with a General Electric J-85 engine. The Mustang body was built, modified and painted by Donny Reeves of White, Georgia and he did a superb job. He is a true craftsman and a great friend. In April 2003 Gary and Harriet moved from Cherry Valley, California to Cabool, Missouri. Gary hopes to run the car at tracks all over the United States, and he and Harriet are hoping to be able to run the car together at some point.
